Room 4 | 17:00 – 18:00 | Wednesday
Hosts: Hannah Mason, Ticketmaster (UK) & Giles Watkins, IAPP (US)
The inbound, European-wide General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will have a significant impact on live music when it comes into force in May. How data is kept, transferred to third parties (such as between a ticketing company and a promoter or artist), and how mailing lists are built, will be governed by strict new rules. And with penalties for data misuse of up to €20million or 4% of a company’s gross worldwide turnover, it’s legislation that wields a big stick. Data gurus Hannah Mason and Giles Watkins present a hands-on workshop about navigating the new law, and correctly managing personal data from mailing lists, ticket buyers’ details, staff and company databases.
